As a Minnesota transplant, I'll concede that the midwest has one thing that the northwest lacks- fall color. I went to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum first thing in the morning to see what I could find. It was my first time going there and it was beautiful.
Here's the winner of the day- my current top photo on 500px.
Happily, there were turkeys!
There were tons of other gorgeous spots as well.
Take that, JJ Abrams.
I used a bit of HDR for this one, otherwise the tree would have come out too dark.
Since Halloween was coming up, they had a village set up for kids to play in that included this scarecrow.
And what I consider to be the runner-up of the day, at #2 on my pixoto photos.
All in all, it was an incredibly beautiful day, and totally worth getting up early for- especially since it gets crowded in the afternoon.
